India’s Amanjot Kaur Steps in as Pratika Rawal Sidelined for Women’s World Cup Semifinal

Indian opener Pratika Rawal's injury rules her out of the Women's World Cup semifinal, with Amanjot Kaur stepping in. Updates from Harmanpreet Kaur and Mithali Raj on the situation.

Indian opener Pratika Rawal’s unfortunate injury has forced her out of the Women’s ODI World Cup 2025, leaving a gap in India’s lineup for the crucial semifinal against Australia. Rawal, the tournament’s second-highest run-getter, suffered an ankle and knee injury during the match against Bangladesh, with Amanjot Kaur taking her place alongside Smriti Mandhana.

Harmanpreet Kaur, Indian captain, provided insights into Rawal’s injury, stating, ‘Pratika sustained a freak ankle and knee injury during the last league match.’ Despite the setback, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) assured that Rawal’s progress is being closely monitored by the medical team.

With the semifinal clash against Australia looming on October 30 at the DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai, Mithali Raj, India’s key player, expressed concerns over the situation. Raj highlighted the potential promotion of Amanjot Kaur in place of Rawal, emphasizing the need for contingency plans in case Rawal doesn’t regain match fitness in time.
