A suicide blast has shaken Islamabad, Pakistan, with 12 people killed and 27 injured at a judicial complex in the G-11 area. The explosion occurred around 12.30 pm local time, shortly after a similar blast near Delhi’s Red Fort. Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi confirmed the attack, stating the bomber detonated the device outside the court building, close to a police vehicle.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif swiftly blamed India for the attack, accusing them of sponsoring terrorism to destabilize Pakistan. Sharif also linked the Islamabad blast to a recent attack on a cadet college near the Afghanistan border. The Prime Minister’s allegations come amidst rising tensions between the two nations.
Visuals from the site depicted a harrowing scene, with lawyers in black coats and white shirts visibly shocked and bloodied. The area has been cordoned off as investigations into the blast continue. Initial reports suggest a gas cylinder inside the vehicle may have triggered the explosion.
