Indian ODI vice-captain, Shreyas Iyer, is fighting a life-threatening ribcage injury after a stunning catch during the India vs. Australia ODI series in Sydney. The 30-year-old collapsed in the dressing room as his vital parameters plunged, leading to a hospital rush where scans revealed a spleen laceration.
Following the near-fatal incident, Iyer was moved out of the ICU but remains in a delicate state. He is being closely monitored for infection and is expected to stay in the hospital for seven days. Despite the severity of the injury, reports suggest his health is stable but delicate.
After sustaining the rib injury during the third ODI, Iyer was immediately taken off the field for assessment. The extent of the injury is still uncertain as he continues to receive treatment in a Sydney hospital. The BCCI Medical Team, along with specialists in Sydney and India, are overseeing his recovery.
