Tata Motors Commercial Vehicles Stock Soars with 28% Premium Post Demerger

Tata Motors' commercial vehicle unit debuts on NSE and BSE with a 28% premium post-demerger, reflecting investor optimism for India's largest truck and bus maker amid a cyclical upturn.

Tata Motors’ commercial vehicle unit made a significant market debut on Wednesday, November 12, with a 28% premium following the completion of the demerger process. The shares of Tata Motors Commercial Vehicles were listed on both the NSE and BSE at ₹335 and ₹330.25 per share, respectively.

After the demerger, Tata Motors split into two independent listed entities, with the commercial vehicles business now known as Tata Motors Ltd (TML). The passenger car business, including EVs and JLR, is now a separate entity named Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles Ltd.

Investor optimism was evident as Tata Motors (Commercial Vehicle) shares opened at Rs 335 on the NSE, up 28.5% from the implied value of Rs 260.75, and at Rs 330.25 on the BSE, a 26.6% gain. This strong market debut reflects confidence in India’s largest truck and bus maker amid expectations of a cyclical upturn in the commercial vehicle sector.

The listing of Tata Motors Commercial Vehicles has propelled the combined market capitalization of the two new listed entities to over ₹2.7 lakh crore. This move has also impacted the Nifty 50 index, increasing its constituents to 51 until the index rebalancing is finalized.
