War of Words Erupts Between Priyank Kharge and Assam CM Himanta Sarma Over Tech Talent Allegations

A war of words erupts between Priyank Kharge and Assam CM Himanta Sarma over allegations about tech talent and investment diversions, leading to heated exchanges and a legal setback for the Karnataka government.

A heated exchange of words has unfolded between Congress leader Priyank Kharge and Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, stemming from allegations regarding the tech talent and investment ecosystem in various states.

Chief Minister Sarma hinted at legal action against Kharge for his remarks questioning the talent pool in Assam, claiming the Karnataka IT Minister implied a lack of potential for major industries in the northeastern state.

In response, Kharge accused Sarma of deflecting from his failures and politicizing the issue. The Karnataka Minister emphasized his state’s tech prowess, stating, ‘Karnataka houses 38-40 percent of the country’s tech talent,’ and criticized the central government for diverting investments to states lacking established ecosystems.

The verbal sparring intensified as Sarma labeled Kharge a ‘first-class idiot,’ prompting the Assam BJP to join in with a taunting moniker, ‘Hello, Teddy Boy,’ mocking the Congress leader’s comments about semiconductor investments being redirected from Karnataka to other BJP-ruled states.

Meanwhile, in a separate development, the Karnataka government’s attempt to regulate RSS activities faced a setback as the High Court granted an interim stay on a controversial order requiring prior permission for events at state-owned venues. The order, challenged by an NGO for its constitutionality, has been put on hold pending further legal proceedings.
