Winter weather alerts have been issued by the National Weather Service (NWS) for parts of the Northwest, warning of hazardous conditions with up to 5 inches of snow expected. Residents and travelers are urged to exercise caution, especially during the morning commute, as some inconveniences to normal activities are anticipated.
AccuWeather meteorologist Adam Douty highlighted a significant cold spell approaching the Great Lakes, Ohio Valley, and East, potentially the most significant cold period this fall. A map shared by storm chaser Stephen Jones suggests notable temperature departures across the Eastern U.S., with a big-time cold front expected next week.
Roughly a dozen roads in Idaho and Montana have been impacted by a winter storm, prompting a winter weather advisory. NWS meteorologist Travis Booth mentioned that snowfall began in Northwest Montana late Monday afternoon, affecting valleys down to about 2,500 feet in elevation.
